Collaboration between Tracer DAO and Flex Dapps

Hey everyone, my name is Jonathan Dunne, and I’m a product engineer at Flex Dapps. As a team, we’re pretty excited about the Tracer project and are grateful to have the opportunity to contribute. We’ve already spent some time developing a couple of items that benefit the Tracer Ecosystem - a Liquidations Keeper Bot, and a governance front-end for Tracer DAO. We’re looking to be compensated for the work already completed for the Tracer ecosystem, and for some work on these items that is currently ongoing. We’re also open to spending some more time in the future building tools for Tracer.

To contextualise our involvement - I’ll highlight what Flex Dapps is, and what we do. Flex Dapps is a development house and venture studio that specialises in architecting and building early-stage technologies in the Web3.0 ecosystem. Our journey started in 2018 and we’ve worked with mStable, Maple Finance, gantree.io, and numerous other projects along the way; check out flexdapps.com to see our full CV. We have strong capabilities in both front-end and back-end development, as well as writing smart contracts in Solidity.

It’s worthwhile noting that Flex Dapps and Lions Mane have worked together previously, hence the relatively forthcoming approach to developing tools for Tracer.
The Liquidations Keeper Bot we built for the Tracer ecosystem interfaces with the Tracer perpetual swaps marketplace to liquidate under-margin positions, and is configured by a CLI. The governance front-end for the Tracer DAO we built is in line with the existing Tracer style guide, and has functionality to parse current and past proposals, vote on current proposals, and create new proposals.

SO w.r.t the proof of the Flex Dapps work, the current Tracer Governance interface was primarily developed by the Flex team, they’ll be performing a few upgrades in the coming weeks to the design here.

The liquidation bot will be open-sourced alongside the alpha testing for people in the community to test out.

As a testimonial, it has been great to be working alongside the Flex team, and we believe that they should be duly compensated for their work so far and work to still complete. But we’ll leave this up to the community to decide on the outcome.

I think it would help greatly if we can get a ballpark of what these types of work usually costs. I’ve looked at mstable’s Git Grants but I’m not sure if their Git Grants reflect the level of work Flex Dapps provided. IMO the scope and bounty for mstable on Gitcoin are all too small compared to what Flex Dapps described here (1ETH for displaying balances on the frontend vs developing a whole frontend and a liquidation bot).

I also couldn’t find the relevant work on Tracer’s github (but maybe I just missed it).

Just to kick things off, I’m wondering if people would be interested in a vested lumpsum plus performance based UMA options for the liquidation bot. And a vested lump sum for the governance frontend.

Thanks for the question!

We’re looking to ask the DAO for:

40,000 USDC
2,000,000 TCR tokens

as compensation for our work.

@patrick.lionsmane do you know if there are any more future work Flex Dapps will be participating in apart from the governance frontend and the liquidation bot?

Assuming this forms a partnership with more future work and on-going support, I think the allocation of 2,000,000 TCR (vested over time) is justified. As for the 40,000 USDC, the DAO doesn’t have a source of revenue right now. I would prefer if we can pay half now and ear mark the other half to pay Flex Dapps back in the near future.

I’d like to know what other people think too though.

We have plans of a governance v2 interface that we’d wish to work with them on over the next 6 months. This is yet to be properly scoped out at the moment.

There’s currently 112k sitting in the DAO treasury. 40k isn’t too bad of a price to pay at this point in time. What’s your thoughts on @Beepidibop 's comments @jonathanpdunne?

We’re assuming that the Flex team will become more involved with community participation as the project evolves, and that this initial 0.2% distribution comes somewhat in kind with a future working relationship.

Would a more favourable vesting or voting period sit better would you say @Beepidibop?

It’s just that every governor and Lion’s Mane is vested atm. It’d throw a wrench into things if Flex Dapps suddenly gets 2m TCR and votes with it.

IMO vesting with a cliff (or agreement to abstain from voting like Lion’s Mane) until the tokens are more distributed is preferable.

Good pickup! Although it’s not mentioned in the EOI, we are planning to insert a commitment to abstain from voting (in the same way Lionsmane have) in our proposal.
